The primary purpose of this qualification is to produce graduates with a comprehensive understanding of the generic skills, attitudes and values required to operate efficiently in the banking industry. The topics that are covered are banking, legal and human resources aspects, ethics and risk, business management and economics.
Furthermore, the qualification aims to empower students by equipping them with special knowledge to perform functions in certain fields of the banking and financial services sector, namely credit, marketing, financial markets and financial planning.
The Higher Diploma: Banking appears on the Financial Services Board’s (FSB) list of recognised qualifications for FAIS Fit and Proper purposes. In terms of this rating, the qualification is considered to be relevant to all product categories as a generic (G) qualification.
The Higher Diploma in Banking is offered on NQF Level 6 and is offered via distance learning.
