Financial planning has emerged as an exciting career path in South Africa over the past 10 years. The financial services industry has become highly regulated and minimum educational standards are prescribed to those who provide advice to the public. Financial planning has become an established and growing profession supported by the opportunity to achieve an internationally recognised designation, namely that of Certified Financial Planner®, offered in South Africa by the Financial Planning Institute (FPI).

The educational requirement to become a Certified Financial Planner® is a relevant postgraduate diploma. This BCom degree will allow graduates access to postgraduate studies in financial planning and will provide a solid basis in all areas of financial planning to enable graduates to operate responsibly and successfully in this highly regulated environment.

Milpark is a Financial Planning Institute-accredited education provider, and the Bachelor in Commerce with financial planning as a major is an approved programme that meets the requirements set by the FPI for the Financial Services Advisor (FSA™) designation.

The BCom degree is offered on NQF Level 7 via contact learning from the Melville campus or nationally via distance learning.
