Office Computing Advanced
The purpose of this module is to provide learners with advanced knowledge and skills in the use of office applications software to support various study and work functions. Building on the intermediate level programme, this course deepens the candidate’s skills in word processing, spreadsheets and databases both as stand-alone or integrated applications.
Admission Requirements
A Grade 10 certificate or an equivalent Level 2 qualification as registered on the NQF. Preference is given to applicants who have completed the intermediate course in Office Computing Skills or an equivalent

Integration – creating dynamic documents using multiple applications
All sessions for this programme are conducted in a specially equipped state-of-the-art facility that allows for hands-on exposure to the relevant skills, knowledge and applications.

Exit Level Outcomes
After completing this programme, the candidates will be able to:

Customise the environment of the word processing, spreadsheet or database application

Professionally create and distribute documents using mail merge

Create and protect forms

Chose and apply appropriate tools to secure documents

Create and format a master document and manage sub documents

Create and format a table of contents, indexes, bookmarks and references

Process spreadsheets using various types of advanced functions.

Apply advanced data management tools

Export or import and handle various file types

Work with PivotTables and PivotCharts

Use various analytical tools to solve problems involving multiple variables and scenarios

Apply conditional formatting and SmartArt graphics

Create relational databases with referential integrity

Design advanced forms for a database

Create complex queries

Create and format reports from tables or queries
Assessment
Learners will be assessed with the submission of one formative activity (assignment), and a practical based summative assessment (final exam).
In addition to the internal assessments, candidates may also register for the International Computer Driving Licence (ICDL) examinations in order to obtain the internationally recognized ICDL certification.
Duration
This is a part-time course of 15 hours.
Further Studies
Learners who have completed this short course certificate may articulate onto other short courses. Depending on the learner’s academic background, other Milpark Business School whole qualifications may also be available to the learner.

An additional cost will be payable should you wish to register for and sit the ICDL exam.
