This Global Entrepreneurship Week, we join the world in acknowledging and celebrating millions of entrepreneurs across the globe.

Observed annually in the second week of November, people from all over the world will gather on a variety of platforms during the week of November 14-20 this year to mark the event and encourage citizens to support their local and international businesses.

There is no doubt that the development of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) is crucial to South Africa's economic sustainability, as they contribute approximately 40% to the Gross Domestic Product (GDP). Entrepreneurs will make a significant contribution towards the recovery of our economy from the COVID-19 pandemic.

It is imperative that the government, as well as education institutions, continue to create an enabling environment to encourage current and future entrepreneurs to succeed.

Our mission at Milpark's School of Commerce is to empower our students to pursue entrepreneurship and thrive in the global marketplace. We also recognize the pivotal role that SMEs such as family businesses play in solving societal issues in their respective countries.
