When Marisa Grundling was asked if she could form a team for the prestigious and international 2023/24 Spencer-RIMS Risk Management Challenge, she jumped at the opportunity. As head of Milpark’s Risk and Insurance Department, she knew her students were up to the task — and she was right! Called Milpark’s Risk Avengers, the team’s submission made it to the top 8 and in May, they will present their case at the RISKWORLD Conference in California — hopefully, to come back with the top spot.

Matthew Vagle first started studying a business degree, followed by a law degree, before finding his passion for risk and insurance, after which he focused on completing an insurance degree. Once he signed up with Milpark there was no holding him back – not only did he make use of the opportunity to pursue tertiary education in his area of interest, but he would also get the chance to travel to the US with fellow team members of Milpark’s team for the 2023/24 SPENCER-RIMS Risk Management Challenge.

Nobuhle Moyo has always been an introvert. But six months ago, she received an email inviting her to be part of Milpark’s team for the 2023/24 Spencer-RIMS Risk Management Challenge. It is a contest that sees 38 teams from nine countries compete for first place. Nobuhle decided to seize the opportunity – and now she’s reaping the rewards on a personal as well as a professional level.
