Bachelor of Commerce in Law

The qualification is designed for learners who want to understand how law operates in practice, within real commercial and organisational contexts, rather than in isolation from business realities.

This BCom in Law is ideal for students who want to operate at the intersection of law and business, as well as for those who intend to continue their studies toward becoming attorneys or advocates. It is particularly well suited to learners who aspire to careers in business leadership, compliance, risk, governance, regulation, or in-house legal advisory roles, and to those who plan to work in corporate, financial, entrepreneurial, or public-sector environments where legal insight is essential. The qualification is suited to students who intend to pursue further legal studies, such as an LLB, and who want to develop a strong foundation in legal reasoning, case analysis, and statutory interpretation. Graduates are equipped to navigate complex legal and business environments with confidence, critical thinking, and ethical awareness, whether their future lies in the boardroom, the courtroom, or further academic study.

To complete the programme in three years, students need to dedicate about 40 hours a week to studies, just like at a contact university. We call this the full-load programme.

If students can’t dedicate 40 hours per week for the full-load, there is the option to complete the programme over a minimum of six years on a half-load.

Immersive Online Learning

IO Learning is our guided, dynamic and flexible digital study experience designed to foster deeper learning and meaningful connection. Through scheduled online sessions, interactive content, and collaborative activities, students engage in a human-centred environment that blends structure with flexibility. IO Learning uses advanced online systems and multimedia resources to support clear pathways, small-group collaboration, and personalised feedback, creating a rich, connected, and engaging learning journey.

Distance Learning

DL is our more traditional, flexible study mode designed for independent learners who prefer minimal online engagement.
Students in this mode primarily rely on textbooks and study guides, with access to supplementary online resources via our learning platform. DL supports self-paced learning and is ideal for students with limited internet connectivity or those who prefer offline study. While lecturer support is available, interaction is less frequent compared to other modes, allowing students to manage their time and progress independently.

Can I switch between BCom and BBA?

While both programmes share foundational elements, switching may require catching up on programme-specific modules. Speak to an academic advisor for guidance.

Is BCom only for students good at maths?

No. While BCom includes more quantitative modules, it is designed to help students understand and apply data, not become data analysts.

Does BBA include any data or statistics?

Yes, but BBA students are provided with data to interpret rather than generate it. The focus is on using insights to manage and lead effectively.

What kind of careers do BCom graduates pursue?

BCom graduates often enter roles in strategy, finance, business analysis and data-informed decision-making.

What kind of careers do BBA graduates pursue?

BBA graduates typically move into management, HR, client services and leadership roles focused on people and operations.

Do both (BBA and BCom) programmes include leadership training?

Yes. BCom focuses on leadership of self, others and systems. BBA emphasizes practical leadership and people management.

What is the Capstone module?

Both programmes include a work-integrated learning module. BCom students must source and apply data; BBA students interpret provided data and present insights.

Which programme is better for me?

If you enjoy working with data and strategic thinking, consider BCom. If you’re passionate about people and leadership, BBA may be a better fit.
