Bachelor of Commerce Majoring in Banking and Investment Management

This qualification is designed for school leavers seeking specialized knowledge in banking and investment management for a career in the financial services industry. It’s also beneficial for employed individuals looking to enhance their core competencies and advance their careers.

The Bachelor of Commerce (BCom) degree with a major in Banking and Investment Management is designed for individuals aiming to pursue careers in these related fields. It provides a strong foundation, covering essential concepts for general banking, private banking, investment banking, and investment management at a junior level. Graduates can operate responsibly and successfully in this environment.

The qualification also serves as a pathway to a Postgraduate Diploma in Investment Management or Banking, which many financial institutions require for further career progression. The curriculum includes investment-specific modules, partially based on the Candidate Body of Knowledge (CBOK) from the CFA® program. The BCom degree equips students with knowledge in business management, accounting, and economics, enabling them to enter the job market or pursue further studies in Banking and Investment Management.

It’s recognized by the Financial Sector Conduct Authority (FSCA) for FAIS Fit and Proper purposes.

On successful completion of the qualification, the student will receive a Bachelor of Commerce Degree, NQF Level 7.
