Risk and compliance are a crucial part of a business’s operational success. Nowadays, companies operate in fast-paced and hyper-connected environments, and as they grow, so does the complexity of the compliance requirements they face, and the need for suitable risk management plans. With that in mind, Milpark has created two new courses to prepare students for a career in Risk and Compliance management.

We are proud to announce that in Semester 1 of 2025, Milpark Education will be adding the following programmes to its product offering.

Higher Certificate in Management: Risk & Compliance

The Higher Certificate in Management (Risk and Compliance Stream) is an entry-level, post-school higher education qualification designed to equip students with the foundational knowledge and skills required to function in a junior management role.

The qualification will introduce students to risk and compliance and equip them with sound theory that can be practically applied to problems faced in the modern work environment. Beyond gaining knowledge and skills related to risk and compliance management, students will also develop generic competencies and values that make them better prepared to deal with fairly complex work and life situations.

The qualification is suitable for:

• Employed individuals seeking to enhance or formalise their skills, knowledge and attributes to operate effectively in a junior management position.
• School-leavers who require a Higher Certificate to gain access to a Diploma or Degree programme of study.

Advanced Certificate in Management: Risk & Compliance

The Advanced Certificate in Management (Risk and Compliance Stream) is an intermediate, post-school higher education qualification designed to equip students with the necessary skills to function in middle management roles.

The qualification will provide students with the practical knowledge and understanding required for middle management within a Risk and Compliance context. They will be introduced to key risk management concepts and techniques. After completing the programme, students will be better positioned to create risk frameworks, and articulate and promote a stronger risk culture in their working environments.

The qualification is suitable for:

• Employed individuals with significant work experience looking to formalise their management training to fully qualify for a middle management position.
• An individual who has achieved qualifications in disciplines other than management and is seeking a management qualification at an intermediate level.

Both programmes are endorsed by the Institute of Risk Managers South Africa (IRMSA) and align with its Certified Risk Management Practitioner (CRM Prac) designation requirements.
