Advanced Certificate in Management With an elective in Risk and Compliance

The qualification is designed to produce people able to work in middle management in a Risk Management context. In line with the requirements of the Higher Education Qualifications Framework (HEQF), the programme is “primarily vocational or industry oriented” and provides a sound basis for graduates wishing to proceed with further studies.

The Advanced Certificate in Management with Risk and Compliance is designed to also equip students with the critical knowledge and skills necessary to navigate the complex regulatory environment and mitigate potential risks within an organisation. By understanding and managing risks effectively, and ensuring compliance with legal and ethical standards, employees can significantly contribute to the stability and sustainability of their organisations. The Risk and Compliance stream not only enhances individual competence but also strengthens the organisation’s overall resilience and integrity in a competitive market.

On successful completion of the qualification, the student will receive an Advanced Certificate in Management, NQF Level 6.

Minimum Admission Requirements

If the NQF Level 5 qualification did not include Accounting, the following additional requirements apply:

  • A pass in Accounting at matric level (50% in the NSC or Senior Certificate Higher Grade, or 60% at Standard Grade) or higher is required.
  • Candidates who do not meet this requirement may need to complete a bridging module.
  • It is recommended that students be employed in a business environment (full-time or part-time) or have access to such an environment for practical learning assessments.

Does NSFAS fund Milpark Education?

NSFAS only covers public institutions and TVET Colleges. As a private higher education institution, Milpark Education does not offer NSFAS funding. Does Milpark offer bursaries?

Yes, Milpark Education offers bursaries based on academic performance and financial need. Applications typically open in September and close in November for the following year. When studying for your Bachelor of Commerce (BCom) degree at Milpark Education, you can choose the general BCom stream or specialise with a major from one of our three schools.

The School of Commerce offers majors in Digital Business, Economics, Marketing Management, HR Mangement, Financial Management, Logistics and Supply Chain Management, Compliance and Risk Management or Taxation. The School of Professional Accounting provides a BCom in Accounting. The School of Financial Services offers majors in Banking, Financial Planning, Investment Management, Short-term Insurance, Credit or Banking and Investment Management.

What subjects do I need to take in high school to pursue a commerce qualification at Milpark?

To pursue a commerce degree at Milpark, you need a minimum of an E symbol in Higher Grade Mathematics or a D in Standard Grade.

If you don’t meet the mathematics requirement, you may still be admitted by completing the BCom bridging programme. This is available if you have an E in Higher Grade or a C in Standard Grade in two of the following subjects:
