About the Programme

This qualification is designed for individuals aiming to become Organisational or Chief Risk Officers, qualify for IRMSA's Certified Risk Management Professional designation and enhance their skills and knowledge in risk management with a view to enhancing potential career prospects.

The Postgraduate Diploma in Risk Management lays a foundation for understanding risk management and risk-based decision-making and integrating risk strategy with business strategy. Students will learn risk management techniques through context and process exposure, applying foundational principles to practical case studies for analysis and implementation recommendations.

The qualification builds research, report writing, and presentation skills, instilling attributes such as assertiveness, boldness, creativity, devotion, and ethics. It prepares students to become leaders, ensuring they can work collaboratively and integrate risk management into the organisation, making objective and risk-informed decisions.

Applicants require a relevant NQF 7 qualification (Bachelor degree or Advanced Diploma).

In addition to the relevant Bachelor’s degree, applicants require a pass in Matric mathematics (higher grade) or a C symbol (standard grade). Post-Matric studies demonstrating required mathematical skills are considered should an appropriate Bachelor's degree not be available.
